WOULD YOU RATHER #9: RESULTS
Last’s week’s poll was mostly just an excuse to pit two popular dramas by the same writer-director duo against each another. I wasn’t confident that the 9-year difference would be terribly polarizing or invite much debate, and for the most part, it seems I was correct. However, there was one delightfully unexpected outcome from this poll: I now feel like I know a lot of you Beanies better based on your responses in the comment section. 
This battle of the decades was a nostalgia trip (good and bad) for most of you, and I enjoyed reading over the comments.
1997 won the poll by nearly 20%, and it seems like it came out on top because there are a large number of older Millennials, myself included, who miss the era of 90s boybands (Right there with you @shinayame and @ar; Backstreet Boys 4eva!!!) and would prefer traveling to the year that has the internet — even if it’s slow and ties up your phone lines. Plus, as @jls943 pointed out, the further back in time we go, the more freedoms we have to give up, although, depending on where you are in the world, neither 1988 nor 1997 may have been the best years to (re)visit.
As for those who selected 1988, it seems it was the decade of choice for those who either lived through it or have no memory of it. For the Beanies that remember the 1980s, like @babylilo and @darwi, traveling to 1988 would allow them to change the course of their lives for the better, and for @lordcobol, who was an adult in both decades, 1988 came out the winner because that’s simply when he was younger. On the other end of the spectrum, though, there were some Beanies, like @sunnysaturdays, with no memories of the 1980s who’d like to give that decade a whirl.
Either way, though, the most heated debate to come from this poll was over which decade had the better music. And how unexpected is that?
