While I was hyped for PHS’ new drama, I was disappointed with OBY for the most part. While it was poorly done, I did love the potential of the Queen’s storyline, and I wrote my quick and dirty, first ever, fan fiction. I wasn’t sure where to share it. But I figured anything goes in this thread.

Song of the Queen

Once upon a time in Korea, a corrupt and cruel clan rules one of far, forgotten provinces. When the pleas of the people are ignored by the ineffectual king and the clan doubles down on its repression, an underground rebellion forms, led by a mysterious leader.

A daughter of one the clan’s lesser families, sympathetic to the plight of the people, has fallen in love with a young, idealist guard, Song, brother to her maids. After their first night together, she learns of his role as rebel leader, his dream of a just country, and decides to run away with him.

But, the next day Song is unmasked as the leader, and the rebellion is brutally put down, down to the last man, woman, child…and puppy. (I mean, puppies, the bad guys are really evil, but not one, not once, will cackle.) Our “heroine” catches the eye of the king, who visits to celebrate the crushing of the rebellion. And her evil Uncle, the right minister, plans her marriage, to strengthen his position at the court. Shell-shocked, she is about to kill herself, when her maid stops her, and asks her how long ago was her last period.

The years pass. The new queen slowly eliminates/sidelines her ruthless court rivals to rise to the top. [This needs to be expanded.] She becomes the favorite of the king, a weak, fearful man who is content to let the evil ministers rule. Her only ally is the king’s younger brother, a good man who not only is the force of good in the court, he also silently loves her and helps her navigate the treacherous court.

Now, her son, believed by all to be the king’s son, is about to enter his teens, and she believes, ready to rule, with her as regent. Our queen puts her plan into action. [There is no prophecy, shaman and twin assassins, definitely no stupid peonies that force you to wear a cheap white wig, nor an immortal fish. There’s only her trusted coterie of maids who have been placed among the royal household.]

First, she has the the crown prince killed, a drunkard and lech, who’d partaken in the massacre. One of her maids, who’s been enduring the CP’s advances for years, mixes up some hooch gone bad among the good stuff. An embarrassed palace, covers up his death.

Now, for the next, new crown prince. While she truly believes the king’s line is rotten, she has her first doubts. The new CP is not perfect, nor is he evil, even kind in passing moments. But still, he is weak, and at her hinting, her Uncle has set a plot in motion against him. He too wants his nephew to become the next king. Her council of maids also urge her on, and events get out of hand before she can reconsider.

The CP is deposed. Maybe the…
